Childcare FETAC Level 5 DCHSC

Childcare FETAC Level 5 (Code: DCHSC)

The FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Childcare programme provides learners with appropriate training for a career in childcare. All personnel working in pre-school services will be required to hold the minimum of this qualification by 2012.

Whether working in a day care nursery, crèche, pre-school / after school facility or with families as a professional nanny, this course is ideal.

The course also provides learners with an insight as to what is needed to set up their own childcare facility.

To complete the full Level 5 Childcare Certificate learners must complete at least eight modules (also known as component certificates) to achieve 8 credits. There are six mandatory modules and two optional modules, each worth one credit.

The mandatory modules for the FETAC Level 5 Childcare Major Award are:

  • Caring for Children 0-6 Yrs

  • Working in Childcare

  • Early Childhood Education

  • Child Development

  • Communications

  • Work Experience

Optional Modules can be chosen from and extensive list of FETAC Level 5 modules. In Killucan we are offering the following:

  • Special Needs Assisting

  • Occupational First Aid

  • Internet

  • Food Safety and HACCP

Please see the links below for a full course description for each module.

**If you have completed any other modules at FETAC Level 4, 5 or 6 you will be able to use these to achieve credit value in this programme. The FETAC coordinator can offer further advice on this matter.
